USG Corporation receives the 2017 LSS Deployment of the Year Award
On March 29th, 2017, the opening day of the 16th Annual Lean & Six Sigma World Conference in Nashville, the American Quality Institute awarded Chicago-based USG the LSS Deployment of the Year Award. USG Corporation is an American company which manufactures building products and innovative solutions, most notably wallboard and joint compound. This award aims to identify a deployment that characterizes the impact that Lean & Six Sigma can have on improving both financial metrics and culture of an organization.
Kimberly Watson-Hemphill, Lean & Six Sigma Excellence Awards Chair and President of Firefly Consulting Council, noted that “USG’s recognition reflects a Lean Six Sigma program that is both broad and deep, with a strong core of Black Belts and Master Black Belts, as well as a lean program to engage the manufacturing plant teams in continuous improvement,” said Lean & Six Sigma Excellence Awards Chair and President of Firefly Consulting Kimberly Watson-Hemphill. “Their established track record of success includes impressive financial savings. Since implementing Lean Six Sigma, they have achieved more than $250 million in hard savings, reflecting a 250 percent internal rate of return”.
The Lean & Six Sigma World Conference, organized by the American Quality Institute, is the leading conference on quality management standards and Lean & Six Sigma principles. Companies who are interested in having their projects recognized should consider applying when registering for the 2018 conference.
