LEAN SIX SIGMA WORLD CONFERENCE SPEAKER

BIOGRAPHY

Ricky Banks

Lean Deployment Manager, United States Gypsum, Scottsboro, AL, USA

I am first and foremost a husband of 31 years, a father with two grown children that are now married and about to have children of their own. My son and his wife are having a boy and my daughter is having twins, a boy and a girl.

I love helping people solve problems, and training them to better themselves, their places of work and their communities.

I am a Certified Master Black Belt for the USG Corporate Excellence Group. In my current role I am part of the Lean Support Office for USG, deploying Lean within our manufacturing facilities. My duties consist of training/mentoring people at our manufacturing facilities in Lean Management concepts, as well as installing the Lean Management System at every level of leadership within the organization. As an MBB my job also involves coaching/mentoring process improvement professionals throughout our organization, teaching process improvement related classes such as Yellow Belt, Green Belt, and 5S as the need arises. I also conduct large META projects spanning multiple functional areas of our company. It is great to be a part of a group that is changing the way we think about, and conduct our business.

In my previous job as LSS Process Improvement manager at our Bridgeport plant, I performed multiple projects providing significant savings at the local facility which contributed to our company plan to win. My role within the LSS program started after I obtained my LSS Black Belt. Beginning with LSS Process Improvement Tech, within two years in the program I became Process Improvement Manager, then moved to my current role as Lean Process Improvement Manager II/MBB reporting to our Corporate Excellence Group.

I have worked in manufacturing for over 20 years. Serving as both Quality and Environmental Coordinator for our facility, dealing with both ASTM and UL standards as well as our companies bulletin specifications. In my environmental role, I dealt with both State and Federal agencies, managing our companies environmental reporting, including Title V, NPDES permits, and our SWPPP, and SPCCP plans. I have worked extensively with outside agencies such as ADEM air, water and ground, UL and other associated agencies. My goal is continued advancement through hard work, and loyalty.
