Jim is a Principal at LJDuarte & Associates, LLC. He is a Fellow of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) as well as being certified as a Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB) and Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt (LSSMBB). He worked as Corporate Director of Quality Technology and Strategic Business Analytics at two Fortune 100 companies. As Quality Director he helped Reynolds Metals McCook plant with the first NASA Quality Excellence Award while devising a non-destructive testing plan for the quality of heat-treated aluminum for the Space Shuttle. He was the Chair of the Committee for Statistical Procedures for oversight on creating Standards on aluminum alloys for the Aluminum Association. Jim served as an examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and Senior Examiner for the Missouri Quality Award. His current research and consulting are dedicated to Data Science, Big Data, Advanced Analytics, and Internet of Things (IoT). This work led to being requested to be a keynote speaker for the Chinese International Industry Fair for the last three years in Shanghai. He was also requested to be the principal conference presenter with Dr. Noriaki Kano at National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan. He recently fulfilled a request by Qatar University to speak at their Third Global Training about Big Data, Data Science and Biostatistics in Qatar. He will be a presenter at the European Quality Conference in Lisbon then lecturing at Porto University for the Schools of Business (Data Science) and Industrial Engineering (Advanced Analytics). His teaching activities include ad hoc professor at several universities where he teaches Big Data, statistics and quality. During his career he worked as a biostatistician in clinical research, and a consultant in pharmaceutical quality where he participated as a member of the statistics methods committee for the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association, electronics manufacturing, heavy industry, and health care where he created bridge training for healthcare professionals from research statistics (evaluating research studies) to process statistics for evaluating process performance. He has numerous publications in the areas of data science, statistics, process improvement and strategic planning. He possesses seven patents for analytical methods which include two in the U.S. and five international patents.
