BIOGRAPHY

James E. Duarte

Principal, LJDuarte & Associates, LLC, Clermont, FL, USA

Jim began his career as a biostatistician for clinical trials in the pharmaceutical industry. There he collaborated with physicians to publish ground-breaking research on drug interactions. As the Good Manufacturing Practices were introduced, he moved to quality where he published and participated on standard setting committees. Jim served as a Corporate Director of Quality and Analytics for two Fortune 500 companies where he headed committees for Aluminum Association to improve statistical procedures for setting standards. He has technology skills from work in the electronics industry as well as a data scientist for SAS software. He currently speaks, trains and consults on Big Data and Advanced Analytics. He also trains on SPC for service organizations, Strategy Deployment and survey design. He has made 3 trips to China where he spoke as the Keynote for 3 conferences, one with Dr. Noriaki Kano of Kano Model fame. One key achievement was the development of a non-destructive test system for aluminum plate for the Space Shuttle. His work resulted in the manufacturing facility of aluminum plate winning the first NASA award for quality. His consulting work with U.S. Army earned him commendations as well as coins from a two-star General and Chief of Chaplains for leading a Six Sigma project that significantly increased attendance at Strong Bonds activities. It gained recognition from the Command Sergeant Major of the Armies as a benchmark to be deployed throughout the Army. He is published in journals on quality, statistics, strategic planning and Six Sigma.
