ABSTRACT

Connecting People, Processes, and Technology

Have you tried automation or Robotic Process Automation, but it made things worse? How do you know what processes to automate? How do you know if the process you automate is bad? What are the best tools for automation? These are just a few questions that come up through conversations after teams choose technology or tools without genuinely understanding their business needs. When teams get to this point, they are usually frustrated because they are not getting the intended ROI and their employees are frustrated. About 30% to 50% of automation projects fail each year (Forbes, Oct 2021), leading to a 70% loss of benefits and ROI (Industry Week Magazine, Sept 2021). These projects cause frustration and are unsuccessful due to: Lack of strategy, automating bad processes, selecting the wrong approach and the inability to scale due to one-off automation projects.

Understanding how to connect people, processes, and technology is crucial to get past these frustrations. For automation to be successful, people, processes, and technology must be connected. Through this connection, you can succeed and gain business optimization. It is about choosing the correct technology that fits the business needs and enables your people and processes.

By the end of my session, participants will walk away with how to use Continuous Improvement and technology together. Through this connection, they can succeed and gain business optimization to become recession resilient and further advance in their transformations.
