Tate & Lyle deploys CI programs through its Global Operations Network. We have made significant progress over the last 2 years integrating Minitab products which include Minitab, SPM, Companion and Quality Trainer. The speaker, Adam Russell, is a seasoned Master Black Belt and a degreed Chemical Engineer with 20 years experience leading, training, and coaching process improvements using Minitab products for continuous and batch manufacturing processes. Recently, Tate & Lyle launched a major quality improvement project for one of its product lines. For years, attainment of consistent quality and previous efforts to control variation were sporadic until a DMAIC project team was formed. Efforts progressed through a Gage R&R to validate the measurement system, but the big breakthrough came when the team reached out to Minitab and acquired SPM to supplement its data analysis efforts. SPM offered the team the ability to model variation in the response against several thousand predictor variables and reduce the set of predictors to the vital few. The team documented the journey in Companion, which has become our primary documentation tool for CI projects. Through this presentation, participants will be able to connect SPM to their Data Analysis projects, refine on important predictors, and propose rational models.

Conference Chair's Message

Joel Smith

Continuous Improvement is not just something a Lean Six Sigma (LSS) practitioner leads their organization in practicing, but is also a core competency of their professional makeup. That is why more and more innovative and leading companies are looking for leaders that use the LSS way of thinking in everything they do within their organization.

In this era of data science and machine learning, the ability to connect the dots for end to end solutions across the boundaries of people, process and systems is the key to success. This year’s conference is focused on making sure we are “continuing” our journey as practitioners. Whatever your level of experience, you will learn new concepts, new perspectives and network with the best in the industry.
