Mandy McKay is an Industrial Engineer and Project Senior Manager in the Clinical Design and Innovation (CDI) department at Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor, MI. She has a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science in Quality Management from Eastern Michigan University. She has 12+ years of experience as a project manager and is trained in Lean Healthcare, Manufacturing Strategies, Data Driven Decisions, Measuring Customer Satisfaction, facilitation and other process improvement methods and tools. After college, Mandy started her career as a project manager working for Michigan Medicine’s Home Care Services division. There, she focused on improving employee satisfaction through operational improvements in areas that supplied patients with medical equipment, home nursing and home infusion. As part of CDI for the last 4 years, Mandy works with multidisciplinary teams from several diagnoses, to identify opportunities for improvement throughout the patient’s continuum of care. As a coach, mentor and teammate, she focuses on efforts that align with Michigan Medicine’s strategic goals, while helping educate and empower others to become even better problem solvers.
Mandy has a strong passion for healthcare performance improvement and loves sharing lean/Six Sigma tools with clinical and administrative staff to promote engagement and empowerment. Mandy and the rest of her CDI team love to work on initiatives that have large scale impacts on patient outcomes and to share that work with others from around the country and world. In turn, she is fascinated by all of the exciting and innovative ideas that are being generated and shared at conferences like this!
