Why You Need A Daily Dose of DMAIC for Yourself and Others
Marco Luzzatti, Trainer, Greenville Technical College, Greenville, SC, USA,
We face problems every day. We are trained in and get really good at using DMAIC for improvement projects, but do we and others use DMAIC every day. We should use the basic structure but often don’t. Or when pressed for time and action, do we and others fall into our old, “bad” habits. How do you respond “on the fly” when someone comes into your office and says “we have a problem, we need to …,” or you are called into a meeting or to a machine to “fight a fire.” Using relatable short exercises and examples, see how easy it can be even for experts to take shortcuts and fall into pitfalls. Based on years of experience with many methods, learn how you can use DMAIC on a daily basis to remember the simple things you should do and ask to avoid common problem solving/improvement pitfalls, enhance coaching and make our and other’s daily problem solving activities better and more effective.
