ABSTRACT

Mindset Impact on the Sustainable Lean Six Sigma Program

The Impact of Mindset on a Sustainable Lean Six Sigma Program For any organization, public or private, the path to sustaining a successful operation is always under review. The adopters of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) have not been immune from this quest for excellence and have often turned to their mindset for answers. After all, if one believes that anything is possible, then aren’t all outcomes within reach? We think so, and that’s why we believe in the power of a positive mindset when it comes to sustaining a Lean Six Sigma program. The LSS Mindset: What Is It? When we talk about mindset, we’re referring to the overall attitude and beliefs that individuals have towards themselves and the world around them. A positive mindset is one that sets individuals up for success by encouraging them to challenge themselves, take risks, and learn from their mistakes. On the other hand, a negative mindset can be destructive, causing individuals to doubt their abilities, become resistant to change, and give up at the first sign of difficulty. It’s no surprise then that adopting a positive mindset has been shown to be one of the most important predictors of success, both in business and in life. When it comes to sustaining a Lean Six Sigma program, adopting a positive mindset can make all the difference. Why? First and foremost, LSS is all about continuous improvement which means that there will always be room for improvement, no matter how successful an organization becomes. This can be daunting for some people but with the right mindset, it can also be exciting. After all, what better way to show off your skills than by continuously pushing yourself to do better? In addition, a positive mindset can help organizations weather tough times by keeping team members focused on their goals and motivated to find solutions. Negative mindsets tend to do the opposite, leading people to dwell on problems and see roadblocks where there are none.
